Every time another house in one of Fredericksburg’s classic neighborhoods is restored, another little piece of the city’s vibrant architectural personality is restored as well.
The Craftsman-style house at 616 Prince Edward St., at the corner of Charlotte Street, is an ideal example. The nine-month restoration by Simply Home LLC partners Patrick Gay and James McCloskey returned the exterior to its original appearance.
Inside, with the house taken down to its framework, the floor plan was strategically altered to create a home appealing to a modern family.
The result is a residence that reclaims its proud place in a neighborhood of sensitively restored homes that pay homage to early 20th-century Fredericksburg while providing the creature comforts of today.
