Simply Home would like to congratulate Mark, Michele and family on the closing of their new home in downtown Fredericksburg. The restoration of the historic home at 1200 William Street in downtown Fredericksburg was an exciting endeavor. This beautiful all-brick federal style home, named historic Millstone, was built circa 1821 by William A. Knox, and is a true showcase of the timelessness of classic American architecture and the history of the post-colonial period.
The Millstone home has many unique features including a beautiful semicircular stairwell, an exposed beam attic, original slate roof, hardwood floors, and multiple fireplaces. The intention of both builder and family was to maintain and restore the historical beauty and heritage of the home while transforming the interior to a modern living space with all the comforts and amenities of any modern home. The renovations included a beautifully appointed gourmet kitchen, step-through master closet and dressing room, stunning master bath with soaking tub and glass shower enclave. The attic was transformed into a wonderful multi-use room for the whole family to enjoy. The two story guest house on the premises also received a make-over with a new kitchen and other modern updates. This home was a rewarding challenge for Simply Home, an award-winning builder who is passionate about quality workmanship and delivering beautiful homes to wonderful families.
